Hello!
We have rebranded from The A&G Project to Black Bear Physical Therapy. This way it’s clear for everyone what we do…high level, personalized, and attentive physical therapy. What spurred this change?
After years of planning, Aaron finally left his busy and overly corporate physical therapy job. Aaron has now joined Gaelyn to grow the business, and we are both very excited about bringing more quality care to the community and better quality of life to their family.
We’ll be doing a monthly newsletter to share some health and wellness knowledge, as well as some other random interesting stuff. If you don’t want to receive these emails, let us know and we’ll take you off the list.
For Your Body
1. Stretching can sometimes be useful. But when it comes to injury prevention, you’re better off choosing strengthening.

Stretching? No effect in reducing injuries
2. More specifically, stretching can make you a worse runner.
For the month of March, we’re offering runners a special deal - $49 initial evaluation and treatment for the Asheville Marathon on 3/15/25.
3. A new systematic review found that high muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness reduced cancer mortality by as much as 46%.
4. EXERCISE OF THE MONTH: Asymmetrically Loaded Bridge
Do 3 sets of 10-30 reps at 25-50% of your body weight, 1-2x/week
For Your Mind
5. A single laughing session reduces your stress by 37%! So turn off the news for a little bit and watch some stand up comedy or follow some humorour accounts on social media.
6. Cyclic sighing can reduce stress immediately.
7. Seeing too many doctors can make your injury worse. This is why it’s important to build yourself your own personal medical team with doctors and practitioners you can trust.

Etc.
11. We recently showed our kids some Buster Keaton highlights. It was perhaps not our best parenting move, as much of the viewing was us giving disclaimers of “you can’t do that”. But we were all amazed by his silent comedic humor, incredible athleticism, and courageous stunts.
