4 Things I Learned Working Out at X-Force

Tedd James has been in the fitness industry for a long time. In fact, he’s a second generational gym owner here in Asheville at X-Force.

So when he says he believes in something, there’s a lot of experience and validity to it.

What is X-Force

X-Force is an advanced weight lifting machine that is able to increase the lower/negative/eccentric phase by 40%.

This eccentric phase is like a cheat code for the body.

It improves tendon integrity, increases strength, allows for supramaximal forces, increases hypertophy, improves flexibility, requires greater motor unit recruitment, reduces injury risk, and enhances neuromuscular efficiency.

X-Force does this with technology that manipulates a weight stack to adjust the gravity of the weight. It’s a complicated physics thing. Look in the video below to see the weight stack adjusting.

There aren’t many of these machines in the US (yet).

What I Learned From Working Out with X-Force

Tedd was nice enough to let me try out x-force so I could feel the efficiency of the new machines.

I loved the workout. Here is what I learned…

4 Things I Learned

1) It’s incredibly efficient

As a business owner and a dad of 2 young kids, I don’t have a lot of free time. However, exercise is a priority. For overall health, longevity, psychological well being, and the ability to play with my kids, it’s important,

I usually have to schedule this time in and rush to get through workout.

At X-Force I was sweating within 5 minutes. Every muscle in my body was pumped in 20 minutes. And at 30 minutes I was so fatigued I could barely use my phone.

It is by far the most efficient workout I have ever done.

2) It’s safe

The machines are extremly well designed. They’re smooth and the path of motion is very ease on the body.

Plus, when used properly, machines are one of the safest ways to work out.

There’s no option to go beyond your range of motion (where most injuries occur). And there’s not many degrees of freedom. So there’s no uncontrolled forces put on the body (which happens often with free weights and barbell training.

3) It’s great for flexibility

The eccentric loading muscles in a lengthening movement can help lengthen our collagen and improve orientation.

In my 15+ years of being a Physical Therapist, I have always found loaded stretching (eccentric) to be the most effective for both injury recovery, prevention and as well and improving motion.

4) Tedd James is a top level trainer

Tedd was not only an expert in setting up the machines to best optimize my range of motion and output. But he’s an incredible motivator and knows how to push people to where they need to go, and not beyond.

I don’t think I would have gotten as good of a workout if I did this by myself.

Tedd’s expertise compounded the effectiveness of the x-force machines.

Overall

I was skeptical at first, but after a workout, I’m a full on believer.

It’s an extremely effective intense workout.

With all the latest research on the benefits of vigorous exercise, this type of workout checks a lot of boxes.

These machines are state-of-the-art and feel wonderful to work on.

As a physical therapist, what I love the most, is that it’s safe way for anyone of any fitness level to train and make huge gains in their physical health.

I highly recommend checking it out yourself.
